Re-elected as district councillor for Ramsey and Bury ward in May 2022, Steve is a familiar figure respected for his commitment to the town which saw him complete four years as Mayor of Ramsey Town Council. He is one of three Conservative ward councillors together with Jeff Clarke and Roger Brereton.
Among his district council responsibilities, Steve sits on the overview and scrutiny panel (performance and growth) as well as the audit and governance committee of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. Outside appointments include the Internal Drainage Boards of Ramsey, Upwood and Great Raveley.
In September 2023 he was elected chairman of the newly-constituted North West Cambridgeshire Conservative Association, following the Parliamentary boundary review. Prior to that he was deputy chairman (political).
Since May 2021 Steve has also been county councillor for Warboys and The Stukeleys division. He is a member of two county council committees: adults and health committee and environment and green investment.
