These are exciting times for Stanground College. Plans for the £22.4 million redevelopment are well underway. The academic block will be completely rebuilt, the sports block will be partly new and partly refurbished; and a new swimming pool, with solar heating, will be provided. The more modern school will be able to accommodate 1,770 places for students, including 270 sixth formers. There are also plans to enhance local community facilities. Works are scheduled to be completed between September and December 2013.
Cllr Walsh, Vice Chair of the Governing Body, commented:
“Not only will there be a new school building to look forward to, the transition to academy status with recently-chosen partner Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust will soon take place. Stanground College has always achieved very good results, but the new academy status will give it extra impetus to build further on all its strengths.”
