Shailesh Vara, Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire, last Saturday attended the East of England Show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough.
The three day show is one of the region's most popular events and includes exhibits showcasing a range of foods, livestock, motoring and vintage machinery. This year, for the first time ever, the show also hosted the British Festival of the Working Horse and an open-air concert in the evening.
Moreover, despite the adverse weather, 320 retail stalls continued to trade, providing an important opportunity for retailers to promote their goods and products.
Mr Vara had a tour of the main exhibits and joined school children in making a pizza. He encouraged the use of local produce and emphasised the need to learn to cook rather than rely on ready-made food products.
Mr Vara said: -
“This is one of the region’s premier events and notwithstanding the bad weather it was good to see so many people attending. It is always a pleasure to support the show and as always there was something to do for all age groups.”
