THE new year sees our Association enter an exciting phase of growth with the recent purchase of a freehold property to create a permanent office base. Completion took place in November 2022 of a former print works in Ramsey, the realisation of a long-held ambition to invest in a permanent home rather than renting office space.
The property comprises a single-storey extension attached to a two-storey Victorian cottage. Refurbishment of the extension has started, albeit interrupted by bad weather in December. Phase I comprises the creation of an office and large meeting/training room to be followed by Phase II of toilet and kitchen. The longer-term intention is to transform the original cottage into a rental property which will secure the future of the Association.
The project is being managed by our deputy chairman political, Steve Corney, with help from volunteers and local tradesmen as appropriate. Members are welcome to visit and see the project take shape - and indeed all offers of help would be most welcome and very much appreciated. "I am sure among our members and supporters we have a range of professional skills across all trades, so do please get in touch if you would like to be involved," said Steve.
