RETIRED judge Peter Morrell is guest speaker at the next meeting of the Conservative Ladies Luncheon Club, which takes place on Friday July 29th at Elton Furze Golf Club. Ordained as an Anglican priest in 2007, Peter will share his story of moving from the law to the Church while also dipping his toe into the world of politics!
During the early Seventies he stood unsuccessfully as a Conservative candidate for election to Peterborough City Council, as well as a Parliamentary candidate in the strongly-Labour mining constituency of Ilkeston in Derbyshire.
He began his legal career as a solicitor before being admitted to the Bar in 1974 where he enjoyed a busy practice as an advocate, mainly in the East Midlands. Appointed a circuit judge in 1992, he retired from the circuit bench in 2009 although he continued to sit as a mental health review judge until his 70th birthday.
We look forward to meeting Peter and hearing some of his many entertaining experiences... please join us. The Ladies Luncheon Club meets once every two months at Elton Furze for a delicious two-course lunch and a chance to catch-up with friends and make new ones. Tickets are just £25 per person, which includes a small contribution to Association funds.
