A message from Councillor Brian Rush, seeking re-election in Stanground South Ward
Stanground is a great place and I have been lucky to live here with my wife Rita for over 35 years. I have represented residents as a City Councillor for 18 years and in addition to this I perform a number of voluntary community roles. I am a School Governor at Southfields Primary School and regularly help with the Community Cadets, going out into the community clearing litter: I feel strongly the importance of giving a good start in life to the youth of today as they are the future generation of community leaders.
If re-elected I will fight any future inappropriate planning applications, ensure the promised road improvements for the Whittlesey Road/ Pondersbridge junction are delivered. Fly-Tipping, Litter and Dog Fouling blights our community and I support introducing more enforcement officers and issuing stronger fines to deter these crimes from degrading our community. Speeding is a big issue around our ward and I am working with local volunteers on speed watch courses to protect families and residents from hard from dangerous driving.
Working with the Police, Local Authority, Volunteers and Sports Associations I want to ensure our community remains a desirable place to live. I feel passionately about protecting Stanground, Cardea and Fletton. It is one of the best areas in the city, with a strong sense of community, and I will continue to work towards preserving its special character.
I would like the opportunity to continue to represent the best interests of all residents of the area. It is your community and by working together we can make it a safe, clean and healthy place to live. I hope I can count on your support to make this happen.
My top three priorities for the ward:
1 WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY
Engaging with local residents, community groups and schools to make sure everyone can contribute towards making Stanground, Cardea and Fletton great places to live.
2 IMPROVING OUR INFRASTRUCTURE
Campaigning to make sure the promised road improvements on the Whittlesey Road/ Pondersbridge junction are delivered along with other much needed works.
3 REDUCING CRIME AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
Cleaning our streets by working with local police and environment enforcement officers to ensure those responsible for dogfoul waste, flytipping and litter are held accountable.
Yours sincerely
Brian Rush
